Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The contribution has not been previously published, nor is under review by any other journal (unless an explanation has been provided in the Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word format and is between 8,000 and 10,000 words in length. Includes tables (charts), figures (graphs, photographs, images, etc.), footnotes and bibliographical references (in alphabetical order).
  • All contributions are following the standards established by the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), fourth edition in Spanish and seventh in English. Papers that are not edited in APA format will not be accepted. This will be the reason for returning the document for its adjustment.
  • The text of the document is justified and written in Times New Roman font size 12 with double spacing. All illustrations, figures and tables have been included in the correct place and not at the end of the document.
  • The sheet is letter size (21.59 by 27.94 cm. or 8 ½” by 11”) and maintains the normal margins predefined by the word processor. All pages are numbered (bottom and right with Arabic numerals) and must not have annotations or designs anywhere on the page (headings, members, etcetera)
  • The document contains a main title (maximum 16 words and in bold), followed by its translation into Spanish, English or Portuguese (as the case may be). All of these data must be centered.
  • The abstract of the text does not exceed 150 words and specifically describes and includes the justification of the topic, its objectives, the characteristics of the context, the methodology used, and the most outstanding results/conclusions.
  • The text meets the requirements indicated in the Guidelines for Authors, which can be found at Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines

Authors interested in publishing in Cultural must meet the following requirements:

a) Culturales receives and publishes articles, and reviews in Spanish, English, or Portuguese.

b) The collaborations sent to this journal for its possible publication must be original and unpublished and not have been published previously. The authors promise not to submit to simultaneous evaluation the work in question in other printed or electronic publications.

c) Author or authors should not have in revision two manuscripts simultaneously.

d) The document should present a formal academic structure [of preference: Introduction, Methodology, Results, and Discussion (IMRD)] and follow the Author Guidelines for the submission of a manuscript that the journals said.

e) The author responsible for sending the document must include in an attached file the personal file of each author, with an extension of no more than 300 words (for each one) that includes:

Full name; nationality; ORCID (https://orcid.org/); last academic degree and institution; current affiliation; research areas or lines; recent posts (last 2). Additionally, include the full name and institution of the person responsible for the translation.

f) The maximum number of authors per article should not exceed three. 

g) The editorial process of Culturales, from the reception of the manuscript up to its publication, without inconveniences, takes on average 5 months (150 days). In the case of an application for a third assessment, the process will have an additional duration of 1 month and a half more (195 days). Check times of publication.

h) Costs for shipping, processing, or downloading: Based on the open access policy (AA) of scientific communication,  Culturales journal does not charge for the receipt of proposals, nor does it set fees for the publication of articles. Likewise, all published content can be downloaded from the website, freely without causing any cost to the user.

Editorial Issues is a section for the publication of research and popularization articles related to scientific publishing, academic writing and all related topics.
