Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The article has not been previously published, nor to be published by any other journal (unless an explanation has been written in the comments to Editor).
  • The article must be submitted in Microsoft Word format and is between 6 500 and 8 000 words in length. This includes tables (charts), figures (graphs, photographs, images, etc.), footnotes and bibliography (in alphabetical order).
  • Any and all contributions must follow the guidelines established by the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), 4th edition in Spanish and 7th edition in English.
  • The text of the document is justified and written in Corbel, font size 12 with double spacing. All illustrations, figures and tables have been included in the correct place and cited within the corps, not at the end of the document.
  • The size of the sheet is A4 (21.59 by 27.94 cm or 8 ½” by 11”) and maintains the predefined margins by the word processor. Every page shall be numbered (bottom margin centered, with Arabic numerals) and have no annotations or designs decorating the page (heading, letterhead, etc.).
  • The document contains the main title (maximum of 16 words in bold letter), followed by its translation in Spanish, English or Portuguese (as the case may be). All of this must be centered.
  • The abstract does not surpass 150 words in length and describes concisely the justification of the topic, its objectives, the context characteristics, the methodology and the most notable results/conclusions.
  • The work complies with all requirements indicated in the Author Norms, which can be found in Editorial Guidelines

Author Guidelines

Authors interested in publishing in Culturales must comply with the following requirements:

- Font Corbel [complete article].

- Size 12 pt [complete article, except footnotes].

- Footnote: font Corbel, size 10 pt, justified.

- Footnotes must be concise. They shall not be utilized for bibliographical references.

- Predefined margins by the Word processor [normal margins]

- Extension between 6 500 and 8 000 words [including tables, figures and
bibliographical references]

- The article must not include any information regarding the authors.

- Title in Spanish and English, maximum of 16 words [Spanish].

- Abstract in Spanish and English, maximum of 150 words [Spanish].

- Abstract Format: it describes concisely the justification of the topic, its objectives,
the context characteristics, the methodology and the most notable
results/conclusions.

- Keywords in Spanish and English, complying with UNESCOs Thesaurus [minimum 3, maximum 5].

- Pages must be numbered [bottom margin, centered and using arabic numerals].

- Citations and references must be in accordance with the Publications Manual of the American Psychological Association [APA] [7th Edition in English or 4th Edition in Spanish]. If the submitted article does not comply, it will not be accepted in the
editorial process.

- The bibliography is placed at the end of the document in alphabetical order, with
hanging indentation. The references correspond to documents cited in the article appropriately.

- Tables, images, figures or graphs must appear within the text, enumerated accordingly, with their corresponding font and cited therein.

- Personal Form: all authors must fill out and submit the document “personal form” attached separately. This form contains: full name, ORCID code, current affiliation, e-mail address, nationality, highest level of education completed, line of research and two recent publications.

Review Submissions

Applications for submissions of book reviews will be made through the Culturales journal’s website [Register].

- It must have an extension of 4 to 8 pages [letter size].

- The reviewed books must be related to the study and research of the cultural,
sociocultural and/or related to culture studies.

- Works reviewed by the authors, coordinators, compilers and/or editors of the work will not be accepted.

- The review must include a bibliographic card of the book, the ISBN and the
information of the reviewer: full name, ORCID and institutional affiliation.

- In a different file, an image of the book cover in image format [jpg, png, tif, gif, bmp] with good resolution must be attached.

- The acceptance and publication process of the review must be followed through theuser account of the reviewer.

- All the reviews will be evaluated and approved by a reviewer in an open format
review.
