Abstract

The present essay, aims to. From a critical stance, to address the phenomenon of the medicalization of death, contributing to a discussion against the instrumental sense and the bio-political nature inherent to technological projects in this field. Methodology. The methodology is based on a work of documentary type, in order to recover ideas and ideas that at present give an account of the meaning in which modern society means to death. Results. The contribution of elements of discussion and analysis around the socio-cultural, economic and political representation of death. Conclusions. Death is much more than the definitive cessation of vital signs, and forms part of a complex social structure where technological developments and forms of consumption shape their conception and experience in modern societies.
