In this article I propose to think gay weddings discussing the concept of loving script. I understand these celebrations as a canovaccio, a sort of an early theatrical script in the Italian Commedia dell’arte. From an analysis of gay love stories included in Argentinean cultural production between 2010 and 2015, I try to test this analytical approach. The sections that structure this article refer to the political character of same sex marriage, the process of making the decision to marry, the organization of the wedding as a crucial point and the description of other people that join the couple in the marrying process. The goal of this paper is analyzing how gay weddings are constantly oscillating among the old, the new and the borrowed.
