Best practice in scholarly publishing guidelines

As part of our editorial policy and in order to promote best editorial practices for academic publications, The journal culturales makes available to its users and the general public this document that integrates our position as far as our position to protocols of action and administrative processes to be addressed and followed in the event of articles that violate our rules or are detected [at any time during the editorial process] misconduct or unethical behavior that damages the integrity of research and the construction of scientific knowledge.

In the face of the above, the journal Culturales recognizes and adheres to the principles of transparency and best practices for academic publications promoted by The Committee on Publication Ethics [COPE] and the Directory of Open Access Journals [DOAJ] to ensure the quality of the editorial process and the authenticity of the publications. To do this we also support in the Publication Ethics Resource Package [PERK] of the group Elsevier, and thus have the right protocols to respond to the needs and performances of our authors, readers, steers and all the actors involved. At the same time and with the aim of integrating all suggestions and recommendations at the international level into the field of academic publications, Culturales also recognizes and adheres to the standards and guidelines established by the International Association of Scientific, Technical and Medical Publishers [STM], the European Association of Scientific Publishers [EASE] and the National Organization for Information Standards [NISO].

Culturales assumes its commitment, as an editorial entity, to carry out ethical and transparent editorial practices that support all its users in the editorial process, and to ensure the monitoring of its administrative procedures; always guaranteeing clarity and resolution to potential conflicts and to resolve, adhered to protocols and regulations, the cases of unethical conduct that arise.

Culturales commits to:

  • Taking responsibility for all publications is presented to the journal.  
  • Make available to users [authors, evaluators and readers] the standards, guidelines and protocols of the journal.          
  • Attend authors, evaluators and readers throughout the editorial process.  
  • Respond to user queries clearly, concisely and in a reasonable time, depending on the specificity of the query.          
  • Elaborate processes, procedures and protocols internal to contribute to ensuring the quality of l editorial process and the work published.          
  • Ensure the confidentiality of the material sent to the magazine during its review.  
  • Ensure that the editorial review and arbitration process is fair and impartial.  
  • Ensures compliance with policies, standards and protocols magazine in each of the editorial process.       
  • Act and apply administrative protocols to cases [in process and published] of suspected malpractice, accusation or denunciation of unethical conduct in the article presented.          
  • Ensure a serious and formal investigation process in each case of suspicion, denunciation or accusation of a bad practice or unethical conduct.          
  • Inform the authors at all times about the investigation process in case of suspicion, denunciation or accusation of a bad practice or unethical conduct.          
  • Report each case to the Editorial Committee of the Institute of Cultural Research-Museum of the UABC so that, based on the available information, they make decisions that guarantee best practices.          
  • Allow authors to make and publish corrections, clarifications and retractions of their article when the regulations permit, and to apologize when necessary. 
  • Keep the website updated and all published articles available s for download. 

The authors commit to:

‐ Read and know the rules and guidelines of the journal.

‐ Submit your manuscript in accordance with the rules and guidelines of the journal.

‐ Confirm the originality of the text that apply to the journal.

‐ Report that the proposal has not been submitted simultaneously to another publication.

‐ Have all the permissions and rights for the publication of the images and materials presented in the manuscript.

‐ Have the express authorizations of the people and institutions with which he worked directly if necessary.

‐ Accept the rules, guidelines, protocols and editorial procedures established by Culturales from the moment you submit a proposal for evaluation.

‐ Perform your work ethically adhered to editorial standards with international standards.

‐ To attend and respond [in a timely manner] to all doubts or queries that occur during the editorial process of your manuscript.

‐ Sign and send format of transfer of economic rights with autograph signature.

‐ To abide by the decisions that result in the editorial process.

- Take full responsibility for your article throughout the editorial process jointly and shared [in the case of several authors].

- Participate and follow up the administrative process in case of application of protocols if there is suspicion, complaint or accusation of a misconduct or unethical conduct in your article.

The evaluators commit to: 

‐ To realize the evaluation of objective and constructive form, considering the lineaments and norms of the journal.

‐ To realize the evaluation without slants.

‐ To maintain tact with the evaluated contents [they can neither be shared nor reproduce while they are not published].

‐ Issue the evaluation within the stipulated deadlines.

‐ Issue the evaluation in formal, concrete and clear terms.

‐ Report in case of suspected misconduct or unethical behavior.

‐ Declare whether there is a conflict of interest with the article to be assessed when the case arises.
